OVERVIEW
The third conference for Asian new drug development was held in Tokyo in May, 2009. Several issues about Asian development were discussed intensively from the sponsor’s and the regulatory reviewer’s point of view.
For the fourth conference, the program committee has been joined by colleagues from East Asian countries – China, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and Japan – who are actively involved in drug development in Asia. The more critical topics have been selected.
Main topics are as follows:
1) Asian clinical trials in oncology area (development strategy and operation)
2) Simultaneous global development from East Asia point of view
3) Ethnic similarity and differences among East Asia (medical practices, PK etc.)
Several experts in drug development from China, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and Japan will share their experiences and discuss how we can contribute to healthcare and the patients in Asia. We are also planning for opportunities for substantive discussion with PMDA regulators in order to develop new drugs which contribute to public health.
