Biography:
Marc Boutin is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the National Health Council, the only organization of its kind that brings together all segments of the health care community to provide a united voice for the more than 133 million people with chronic diseases and disabilities and their family caregivers. Made up of more than 100 national health-related organizations and businesses, its core membership includes approximately 50 of the nation’s leading patient advocacy groups, which control its governance. Other members include professional and membership associations, nonprofit organizations with an interest in health, and major pharmaceutical, medical device, health insurance, and biotechnology companies.
Boutin has been actively involved in health advocacy, policy, and both federal and state legislation throughout his career. He has designed and directed numerous strategies on issues ranging from access to health care to cancer prevention.
Boutin has a long history of board and committee service. Currently he serves as

Boutin served as a reviewer for the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Roundtable on Value and Science-driven Health Care and on the IOM’s Committee on Health Research and Privacy. He served as an advisory board member for the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease, the Humana Cares Clinical Advisory Board, and as a member of the eHealth Initiative Leadership Council.
