Dr. William (Bill) Wang is the head for the Department of Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (BARDS) – Asia Pacific region, the Merck Research Laboratories (MRL). This department provides wide scope of quantitative science support for Merck's R&D programs.
Dr Wang has over 17 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with expertise in statistical design and analysis, scientific programming and clinical data management. He has worked for the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Astra Merck, Covance and Merck Co & Inc. During his 12-year tenure at Merck, he has led the statistical supports for major regulatory filings of drug/vaccine products. In 2007, he moved to China to establish and lead Merck's biometrics operations in support of MRL's local, regional and global clinical development.
Since 2007, he initiated and co-organized multiple International Biopharmaceutical Statistics conferences in China, and co-founded the Shanghai Biostatistics Forum (SBF) with a mission to promoting biometrics professionals in China. In the last 2 years, he helped organize the DIA China's popular biostatistics and data management workshops, and served on the DIA China Regional Advisory Board. Most recently, he was nominated to join the DIA SIAC leadership council (SLC), actively representing and promoting DIA global SIAC initiatives in China.
