Transportation

Philadelphia is within a day’s drive of 40 percent of the U.S. population. Traveling to Philadelphia is also incredibly convenient by air or rail. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, the third busiest Amtrak station in the country, are connected to downtown and the Pennsylvania Convention Center by SEPTA Rail Lines. And once you have arrived, there’s no need for a car in Philadelphia’s wonderfully walkable downtown.

GETTING AROUND

By Car: The Pennsylvania Convention Center is just a few minutes from I-95, which runs north and south, making it less than 2 hours from New York City and less than three hours from Washington, DC. Click here for driving directions to the Convention Center and parking information.

By Train: Amtrak provides extensive service to 30th Street Station with high speed service along the Northeast Corridor and points North, East, West, and South.

Amtrak is offering DIA attendees a 10% discount off the best available rail fare to Philadelphia.* To book your reservation call Amtrak at +1.800.872.7245 or contact your local travel agent. Please be sure to refer to Convention Fare Code X37J-943 when making your reservation.

By Plane: Philadelphia International Airport services 28 airlines (including three low-fare carriers), operates nearly 600 daily, nonstop flights from 120 cities, including 60 daily and seasonal fights from 36 international destinations.

By Public Transit: SEPTA Rail Lines service the entire Philadelphia Region. The Market East Station is connected to the Convention Center.

The Airport Line connects PHL directly to downtown Philadelphia in just 20 minutes. (To get to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, disembark at Market East Station.)

From Amtrak’s 30th Street Station take the SEPTA Regional Rail to the Convention Center. A regional rail train departs every few minutes. With your Amtrak ticket, the ride to Center City is free.

Other SEPTA Regional Rail Lines can shuttle you throughout the region. Please visit SEPTA.org or call +1.215.580.7800.

By Taxi: Taxis are readily available from the airport as well. All taxi rates are based per trip, not per person. Most taxis can accommodate up to three passengers. In some cases certain vehicle types can accommodate four passengers. There is a flat rate of $28.50 from the airport to Center City, not including an optional gratuity.

By Shuttle: Lady Liberty provides airport shuttle service to all Philadelphia hotels and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The one-way fare between PHL and Center City is $10.00 per adult. Reservations are not required for airport arrivals. Service is available from 5:30 AM until midnight. Shuttles depart the PHL airport approximately every 10-15 minutes. Upon arrival please proceed to the Ground Transportation Counter (located in Baggage Claim) and dial #27 from the ground transportation counter phones (in Baggage Claim) and inform dispatcher of destination and number in party (please call after luggage is claimed). The ground transportation counter employees will then coordinate you outside to your Lady Liberty Shuttle van. Lady Liberty Shuttles pick up outside baggage claim at ZONE 7.

To make reservations for returning to the airport, call +1.215.724.8888. Early morning reservations (before 9:00 AM) must be made by 9:00 PM the night before.
