Title:
PATIENTS AS PARTNERS IN CLINICAL RESEARCH

Chair(s):
Jan Geissler, MBA
Leukämie-Online e.V, Germany

Description:
Patients have a key role to play in patient-centred clinical research, in access to treatments as well as in regulatory affairs. In era of growing demand and emphasis on both quality and affordability of healthcare, it is crucial to involve patients more effectively. To do so, it is key to tackle challenges around regulatory barriers on public involvement, health literacy, doctor-patient communication, public scrutiny and scepticism on clinical research, as well as training patient advocacy groups to be partners in R&D. This session will address these issues, complemented by a panel discussion with the speakers and a representative of the EMA.
