Biography:
As Director, DIA China, Jane Y. Cai, PhD, is responsible for working closely with the Advisory Council of China and the DIA China team to develop DIA’s presence in China, including program and market development and the development of future DIA China leaders.
Prior to joining DIA, Jane served the pharmaceutical industry for decades in various scientific and managerial positions. She was a Senior Director of R&D Operations in the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Group of Consumer Companies, with responsibilities including leading analytical R&D in support of new product development and launches, innovation platform research, technology assessment, product stewardship, technology transfer, and post-launch/post-approval changes for a variety of consumer healthcare products including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics. Jane oversaw the analytical development and operations for North America Consumer business, and led the chemistry R&D function to provide CMC support for early and late stages of drug development as well as regulatory submissions. She was also a Global R&D Operations Leadership Team member, and led J&J’s global initiatives for harmonization of processes and procedures, as well as development of their community of practices.
Prior to J&J, Jane worked for the pharmaceuticals division of the Ciba-Geigy Corporation, based in the US, where she served as a senior scientist and supported drug product development and drug substance characterizations.
Jane has received many awards for her contributions to research and business development, including J&J Standard of Leadership Awards, team and individual Achievement Awards, and the Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award. Jane has her BS degree in chemistry from China, and her MS and PhD in analytical chemistry from the City University of New York, US.
