Biography:
Dr. Hemant Koshia born on 25th August 1961 in a farmer family in a small village of Saurashtra region of Gujarat. He had his graduation & post graduation in Pharmacy at premier institute L.M. College o f Pharmacy, Ahmedabad. He has completed Diploma in Business Management from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s, Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication & Management, Mumbai.
Dr. Koshia has gained brisk manufacturing experience in leading pharmaceutical companies at Ahmedabad. Dr. Koshia joined Food & Drugs Control Administration, Gujarat as Drugs Inspector in 1986. During his tenure as Drugs Inspector, he has worked in various districts of Gujarat and FDCA head office. During his tenure Dr. Koshia has conducted various raids under Drugs & Cosmetics Act and unearthened many inter-state & state level rackets of spurious drugs. Dr. Koshia was selected as Joint Commissioner in 2001 through competitive selection process conducted by Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC). During his tenure as Joint Commissioner, Dr. Koshia has executed his duties as licensing authority for manufacturing of Cosmetics and Homeopathic Drugs in Gujarat State. Dr. Koshia has played a vital role in implementation of various proactive policies adopted by FDCA Gujarat. In January 2009, Dr. Koshia was promoted as Commissioner, the pinnacle post of FDCA Gujarat. Dr. Koshia is executing his duties as Licensing Authority for Allopathic Drugs, Homeopathic Drugs & Cosmetic manufacturing in State of Gujarat. Dr. Koshia is also State Food Health Authority under Prevention of Food Adulteration Act and Commissioner of Food Safety under Food Safety & Standard Act - 2006.
Dr. Koshia is actively representing nine national & state level committees like Drugs Consultative Committee, Govt. Of India, New Delhi, Pharmaceutical Advisory Forum, Dept. of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India, New Delhi, etc. Dr. Koshia has also played a vital role in the implementation of e-governance in the State of Gujarat.
