The Distinguished Career Award recognizes and honors the individual who has distinguished himself in the discovery, development, regulation, surveillance, or marketing of pharmaceuticals or related products. This person has shown extraordinary service and dedication to the advancement of healthcare through career contributions to pharmaceutical and related industries that benefit industry, government and the patient.
I am pleased to present this years Distinguished Career Award to:
Murray M. Lumpkin, MD, MSc
Dr. Lumpkin is a 19-year career officer at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is the Deputy Commissioner (International and Special Programs). Dr. Lumpkin previously served as Director of the Division of Anti-Infective Drug Products in FDAs human drugs center (CDER) and as CDERs Deputy Center Director. Dr. Lumpkin was one of the initial members of and FDAs representatives to the International Conference on Harmonization for 10 years, and was FDAs representative for 9 years to the WHOs CIOMS working groups on drug safety issues.
Dr. Lumpkin has represented FDA in numerous bilateral and multilateral initiatives with various governments and multilateral public health organizations. Dr. Lumpkin has served DIA as a speaker and program committee member for numerous events and as program chair of the 39th Annual Meeting. |
