Overview 

This module is designed to help medical communications professionals and other pharmaceutical industry professionals evaluate statistical data in medical literature. Participants learn to apply statistical concepts when evaluating literature, identify strengths and weaknesses in study design, and detect potential bias in the presentation of statistics.

The goal of this module is not to turn learners into statisticians. Rather, the course emphasizes how to perform specific statistical tests and understand and evaluate medical literature. The module aims to make learners comfortable with the language of statistics so they can ask questions and discuss issues with their statistician colleagues.

  • Distinguish among study designs and identify techniques used to avoid bias
  • Use basic statistical terminology
