DIA Expands Conference and Training Portfolio to include Key Topics of Interest to Middle East Region

Basel, Switzerland — December 02, 2010

DIA,  in partnership with the Middle East Regulatory Network (MERN), will host the 9th DIA Middle East Regulatory Conference (MERC) from 1-2 February 2011 in Amman, Jordan.

MERC provides an opportunity for key stakeholders active in the region, including representatives from ministries of health and local and multinational pharmaceutical companies, to exchange views, discuss topics of interest and identify actions to increase patient access to new and improved medicines and therapies. Session topics include:

• Global Regulatory Environment and Opportunities for the Middle East

• Pre- Post Marketing Safety and Pharmacovigilance

• Falsified Medicines

• Role of Research and Development in Patient Access to New Medicines

• Changing Regulatory Environment

“Since its inception 13 years ago, the Middle East Regulatory Conference has grown to become an important forum for the discussion of matters related to the provision of healthcare in the region,” explains Programme Chairperson Professor Trevor M. Jones, CBE, WHO Commissioner, CIPIH, UK. “MERC brings together all major stakeholders from across the region and Europe to discuss the global regulatory environment and better patient access to new medicines.”
